New York rooftops: The Press Lounge
New York is the city with the biggest number of skyscrapers in America and Europe and second in the world after Hong-Kong. This is not only inspiring, this offers to experience the best views of the city from bird’s eyes. And enjoying a great drink while watching the city makes such an experience unforgettable.
I’ve already been to some rooftop bars, and this time we decided to experience something new. Considering the weather (it was beginning of November), we’d like just to have a drink enjoying the skyline at night, so our choice fell to one rooftop bar in Midtown West, close to the Hell’s Kitchen. The bar called The Press Lounge is located on the top of Ink48 Hotel and offers magnificent panoramic view on the Uptown skyline from one side, and on the Hudson River and New Jersey from another one.
The entry is free of charge, but the dress-code usually seems to be pretty tight (smart/business casual are highly recommended), but it was Monday morning in the beginning of November, so we were welcomed even in very sporty jeans-and-sneakers outfit.
The bar was half empty, but the atmosphere was still outstanding as expected. We got our drinks at the bar and went out to the outside terrace, which was very spacey: there are definitely amazing parties on this terrace in summer time. In November, we were the only guests taking seats outsides (thanks to warm blankets and heating mantles) and were enjoying incredible views of New York Uptown.
After spending quarter an hour outside, we moved in the covered terrace where you still can enjoy city view through huge windows, but don’t need be undercovered by three blankets at once. The bar got nearly empty, few last hotel guests finished their drinks and moved down preparing to sleep. We were also ready to go strongly deciding to come back here in the warm time to enjoy sunset over the New York skyline.
Drink of the day
You are in New York, so take Manhattan ($16), it is indeed pricy, but the cocktails are very good in quality and outstanding view is fully worth money.
